Support my March in March
Ten years ago, I lost my brother Adam to suicide, and honestly… life hasn’t been the same since.
Adam served in the British Army with the Royal Dragoon Guards, (completing two tours in Afghanistan and was awarded for his bravery) but you couldn’t help notice him when he was around. ADHD mad, ridiculously funny, always getting into trouble, and spent the majority of his life terrorising me (but that’s what brothers do eh?!) He had a way of making everyone laugh, even when you didn’t want to, and everyone who knew him has a story they’ll never forget.
Mental health is complicated - PTSD, depression, trauma, anxiety - and it’s not always obvious. So many people suffer in silence and too often you hear things like “I wish they’d said something ”… but by then, it’s usually too late. I want to do this for Ad and for anyone out there struggling silently, to show them they’re not alone and help them get the support they need.
I volunteered at the Remembrance Race last year and thought “I want to do that,” but honestly, I’m not fit enough (or mentally ready) for 76km yet. So two days ago on the 2nd of Jan, I started the couch to 5k app and will start training for March in March which is 10 miles within the month but my real goal is to run it in a oner!!!! 🙄
This isn’t just about running - it’s about making a difference and raising money for Combat Stress, an incredible charity supporting veterans with mental health so even if just one person gets the support they need because of this, every step will be worth it. Thank you 🤍🤍🤍
