18th Jan First 'run' for 20 years and unfortunately first deer strike ever....

I gave up racing (running) twenty years ago due to injuries affecting my top steady state speed for 10ks. However I hypothesised that my fitness might restrict my speed so much I couldn't get injured!
So I thought I'd try a park run to work on my fitness for the big walk. (Parkrun at the Nevis range)

Alas just before Glenfinnan I struck (honestly I feel it struck me...) a huge stag. It limped off but made a bit of a mess of my front wing. I carried on to the Nevis range, but didn't feel like running, so actually I ended up marshalling, scanning the finishers' bar codes.
However.... I got carried away by the sheer joy of the runners and so after it all finished I ran round the course. Had to walk a couple of times but recorded 31'07. Let's call it a v60 personal best!
I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try a 5k and everyone else was very friendly and welcoming.
It still feels like a fun day but let's see what the insurance folks have to say!

Support my March in March - Glenfinnan Walk In

This year I will be taking on March in March to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I would like to honour their sacrifices and help raise some much needed funds by taking on their March in March challenge.

My own personal challenge will be to 'walk in' from Glenfinnan to Inverie, a walk of around 29 miles with 6000 feet of climb. Typically a still challenging 3 day walk in, because of the tricky terrain and climbing, I'll be trying to complete it in a single day. (I'll be taking a head torch!)

I would appreciate any sponsorship / donations of any size please? They will put some strength in my legs and will go to a brilliant cause.

Thank you so much for your support.
