Support my March in March

This year I will be taking on March in March to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on March in March to help take vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support and together we march!

Rhayader Round the Lakes 10k

Wednesday 6th Mar
On a very cold, wet and snowy Saturday morning(2/3/24) we left home to travel to The Elan Valley, to take part in the Rhayader Round the Lakes 10K.After an eventful and slow journey due to the terrible conditions registered and prepared our selves for the task ahead. As well as the 10k they also run a 30k race that go up into the hills9mountains!) and round the dams, this is a bit too far for me!
We were on the starting line ready for the 11am start, definitely more runners for the 30k than the 10k which meant Id would be at the back of the pack. I HATE hills, really HATE hills so why I signed up to this race without checking out the profile is a lesson learned.
The first hill was within 50 m of the start but was only a gentle one , that can't be said of the next beast! I did quite well running up halfway but then I had to walk. The next 3km was a mix of long climbs and hills. Eventually the Visitor Centre comes into view on a lovely downhill, this is the turnaround point and after some water and some Kendal Mint cake we were on the return leg, this is mostly on the path that runs next to the road and thankfully is les undulating! But before long we were back on the road  which is when the rain turned to snow and we were hit with the largest and coldest flakes of snow I've ever seen.
This did definitely encourage me to run up all remain  hills and pick up speed on the downhills. With the village coming into view there was only the final  kilometer to complete , we rounded the final corner with plenty of encouragement and with a final push crossed the line in 1hour 18 mins and 51 seconds.
Despite being very cold and wet enjoyed this race and looking forward to doing next year! And completed 6.23miles towards my target.
