#RememberingAdam with March in March
Ten years ago this year, my brother took his own life, and honestly… life hasn’t been the same since.
Adam served in the British Army with the Royal Dragoon Guards, (Completed two tours in Afghanistan and was given a Certificate of Commendation by NATO) but you couldn’t help notice him when he was around. ADHD mad, ridiculously funny, always getting into trouble, and spent the majority of his life terrorising me (but that’s what brothers do eh?!) He had a way of making everyone laugh, even when you didn’t want to, and everyone who knew him has a story they’ll never forget.
Mental health is complicated - PTSD, depression, trauma, anxiety - and it’s not always obvious. So many people suffer in silence and too often you hear things like “I wish they’d said something ”… but by then, it’s usually too late. I want to do this for Ad and for anyone out there struggling silently, to show them they’re not alone and help them get the support they need.
I volunteered at the Remembrance Race last year and thought “I want to do that,” but honestly, I’m not fit enough (or mentally ready) for 76km yet. So two days ago on the 2nd of Jan, I started the couch to 5k app and will start training for March in March which is 10 miles within the month but my real goal is to run it in a oner!!!! 🙄
I will be running 16k on Saturday 21st March at a race in Hampshire so that it’s officially timed and documented. This isn’t just about running - it’s about making a difference and raising money for Combat Stress, an incredible charity supporting veterans with mental health so even if just one person gets the support they need because of this, every step will be worth it. Thank you 🤍

Behind you all the way Chelsey, you can do it!

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Adam was an awesome guy and I still think of him from time to time. I’ve lost too many friends both Brothers in Arms and other close friends. You have my full support and wish you all the best Chelsey.
