I decided to take part in March in March because I wanted to do something meaningful for our veterans. Growing up, my father served in the Coldstream Guards, and another family member was in the Commandos during World War II. I spent my childhood attending military events with my father and his army family, so the military was always a big part of my life. I even wanted to join the military myself when I was younger. I got as far as the medical stage but couldn’t continue and was told to return in 12 months. For various reasons, I never did.
One day, I saw a post on social media about March in March, and it caught my attention. I decided to do some research and was amazed to learn how long the charity had been running and the incredible work they were doing for veterans. It really inspired me. The charity’s efforts to support those who have served, especially in times of mental health struggles, resonated with me on a personal level.
It’s important for me to give something back to those who have sacrificed so much for us. I hope the charity continues its work for many more years to come, and I’m proud to be part of the march. It’s about raising funds for our brothers and sisters who have risked their lives and given their all, and I feel it’s the least we can do.
Being a part of March in March was also personally significant for me. I struggle with my own mental health, and the experience of participating in the march was empowering. It made me feel on top of the world, knowing I was part of something bigger and helping those who need it most. Thank you for letting me be a part of it—it was truly a meaningful journey.
