Henry's March in March

08 Mar 2025

Hi

My name is Henry and I am 10 years old.

This year was my first March in March. I wanted to do it because my dad has done it for 8 years and has raised money for Combat Stress since 2018.

I wanted to challenge myself and spend some time with Dad on his walks.

Hiking helps him with his mental health and we have had some great adventures walking together. Lots of fresh air and some amazing views.

Also my step brother Riley joined us on our March in March. He is soon to be joining the army and I am very proud of both Riley and my dad.

We got up early and started our walk up onto the South Downs. It was a beautiful sunny day and we walked all the way along the top until we dropped down to have lunch. Then we turned round and headed back.

My feet did hurt a bit as I started to get a blister but dad had his kit and patched me up so it was all good.

We finished our 10 miles and I found it easier than I was expecting. It took us just over 4 hours and I am really proud of us all.

My school have got behind my fundraising talking about combat stress in my assembly and some of daddy's friend sent me some really nice messages to help me get through the day.

I have raised over £700 for combat stress

And it was really nice to do it with dad and spend time out in the fresh air.

I have asked if we can do it again next year and I can't wait to get my medal.

Thank you to everyone who supported me. And thank you to our veterans.

Love Henry.
