Introducing our Fundraiser of the Month for November - Justin Roux!
Originally hailing from South Buckinghamshire, Justin briefly served in the Armed Forces and received counselling for post-traumatic stress disorder. Lifting weights, Justin says, has been a huge support to his mental health throughout his life. Now, Justin is dedicated to supporting our nation’s veterans.
Justin will be attempting to lift the weight of the British Army’s main battle tank - the Challenger 2 - to raise vital funds for Combat Stress. Justin’s challenge will include him bench-presssing the tank, which weighs in at a staggering 68 tonnes, across ten sessions. Each session will see Justin lifting 6.8 tonnes using Olympic barbells consisting of 110kg, 100kg and 92kg (242, 220 and 200lbs).
If he is successful, Justin hopes to complete his final day of lifting at Tidworth Barracks in Wiltshire, and complete his grueling challenge underneath the shadow of a real Challenger 2 main battle tank.
Justin says: “I wanted to take on a challenge to raise awareness of what many of our Armed Forces’ veterans go through; the enormous sacrifice they’ve made and how damaging it can be to them. If the money raised from this challenge can ensure that even one of these heroic men or women can overcome their trauma, then it will have all been worth it.”
