March marked a first for Kuehne+Nagel as we came together across the business to take part in March in March in support of Combat Stress, and what a first it was.
From the very start it was clear that this wasn’t just about clocking up miles. It was about people — our people — connecting with a cause that resonates deeply across the organisation.
Whether under blazing sunshine or battling wind and rain, colleagues simply kept walking. From lunchtime laps around our workplaces, to purposeful evening steps, to ambitious climbs taking in hilltop views and rugged coastal paths, every mile was walked with intent and commitment.
Across our sites, creativity quickly took hold. Some teams fitted walks around busy shifts, squeezing in steps during dinner times. Others mapped out longer routes at weekends, turning walks into shared experiences for colleagues, friends, and family. No two walks were the same, but all were driven by the same understanding of why Combat Stress matters.
Within Kuehne+Nagel we are proud to have a strong and healthy community of Veterans and Reservists, alongside many colleagues who day in and day out support the Armed Forces community through their roles, their friendships, and their own personal journeys. For many, this challenge was personal. For others, it was about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who have served. Every reason mattered.
As the weeks went on, what truly stood out was the community spirit that grew alongside the miles. Photos began to appear — muddy boots, windswept smiles, sunrise starts, tired legs and determined faces. Stories were shared of sore calves, unexpected detours, and that one hill that looked manageable until halfway up.
A little healthy rivalry crept in too. Teams compared distances, sites cheered each other on, and encouragement flowed freely. But it never overshadowed the purpose — instead, it pushed people on, creating energy and momentum that carried through the entire month.
A massive thank you goes to every colleague who took part — whether you walked, strolled, or rolled, every contribution mattered. Special shout‑outs go to the teams at Bicester, Portsmouth HMRC and Donnington, whose enthusiasm, commitment, and participation truly embodied the spirit of March in March.
It has been genuinely heartwarming to see how colleagues embraced the challenge, not just individually but collectively. March in March became a shared conversation, a shared effort and, ultimately, a shared achievement.
Most importantly, every step taken contributed to the vital work Combat Stress does to support veterans living with mental health challenges. Knowing that our collective effort plays a small part in making a real difference has made this initiative all the more meaningful.
As we reflect on our first March in March, there is a real sense of pride in what we achieved together. Not just the distances covered, but the way colleagues supported one another, shared their experiences, and rallied around a cause that truly matters.
Thank you to everyone who walked alongside us — your steps went further than you may ever know.
