We are raising vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
Gordon Robinson, Tom Benbow and Steve Cox are all serving members of the British Army and have all served a minimum of 20+ years in combat roles. Together we will be taking on Britain’s most brutal ultra-run, the MONTANE Spine Race, with the goal of raising awareness and money for the charity, Combat Stress.
The Challenge….
Spanning the entire Pennine Bridleway, the MONTANE Spine Race is a challenging 268-mile, non-stop, mountain marathon, based in the North of England. The Pennine Way crosses some of the most beautiful and, at times difficult terrain found in England, including the peak district, cheviots, Yorkshire Dales, and Northumberland national park – finishing at the Scottish borders.
Why we are doing this….
It has become all too common for veterans to ‘suffer in silence’ when trying to cope with issues such anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sadly, in some cases, this has led to veterans taking their own lives. Fortunately, mental health awareness has been on the rise in recent years with charities such as Combat Stress, The Spearhead Foundation and many others doing their part in providing vital support to veterans in need of help. Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, providing critical support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
Final message from Gordon, Tom and Steve….
Our main goal is to raise awareness surrounding mental health issues within the veteran community whilst raising vital funds for the charity Combat Stress so they can continue to support all veterans both now and in the future. We hugely appreciate any donations made, no matter how small.
Thank you so much for your support.
