A bit about me and my purpose
My name is Shane Thorp.I am raising vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking on vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
I will be covering 138 miles from Tidworth to the National Arboretum in Staffordshire leading up to Remembrance day, departing Tidworth on the 8th of November and arriving at the National Aboretum on the 10th of November to attend the local Remembrance parade the day after.
The march will involve myself and a small team making the 138 mile march either running or walking whilst carrying a 15kg bergan. The 15kg bergan signifies the weight of a burden most veterans carry mentally, I am doing this to raise awareness for CombatStress and mental health issues many serving soldiers and veterans live with and carry with them every day of there lives and to let them know they are seen and that we are proud to remember not only what they have done serving there country but continue to do every single day.
Thank you so much for your support.
