Flying the flag in the US

…..what else to do on a spare weekend in Virginia, other than the Shenandoah half marathon….i’m not convinced that even the end was flat!

Even short runs….

….are better with company ☺️

Will run for food....

....when you are starting to challenge yourself with longer distances, it's always worthwhile having a treat to look forward to at the end of the run, apart from a shower that is!  The thought of cheese on toast was definitely the carrot that got me through the last mile of this 8!!

Support my Race to Remember

This year I will be taking part in Race to Remember to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

As some of you know, I have an inspirational friend in the States who lost her US Marine son - PFC Dexter Morris - to suicide back in 2018.  Since then Rosie Gagnon has been on a campaign to raise awareness of suicide, and particularly as it relates to our military personnel.  To do this, she has set herself the monumental task of running 100 x 100 mile races - one of the handful of people in the world to achieve such an incredible feat.  You can follow this stupendous challenge on social media platforms under 1hundred100s4dexter.

This challenge pales into insignificance beside her efforts, but I hope I will do her and Dexter proud on the day.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on Race to Remember to help take vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
