Three Rivers Challenge
On Saturday 27th April 2024, a group of Carmarthenshire veterans will set off on a 40 mile journey around Carmarthen Bay. Starting at the River Gwendraeth, outside of Kidwelly, they will head along the Wales Coastal Path to Ferryside and on to Carmarthen. Here they will cross the River Towy and head towards Llansteffan, passing the iconic castle. They will then leave the Towy and follow the coastline to the mouth of the River Taff, following it inland to St Clears where they will cross and head on to the finish line at Laugharne.
Having served all over the world, including in some of the British Army’s toughest conflicts over the last quarter of a century, these veterans will be doing the challenge to raise money for combat stress. Amongst the team are veterans of the siege of Gorazde in Bosnia, the Holy Cross riots in Belfast. the Battle of CIMIC House in Iraq, the biggest ever helicopter assault of Op MOSHTARAK in Afghanistan and many other key actions during these campaigns.
Whilst on the journey those that fell during these conflicts, as well as though that have took their own lives after, will be remembered.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking on vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
Thank you so much for your support.
