Marc Wilkinson

London Marathon 2025

Progress

To date I have completed 5 half marathons with an average time of 2 hours with many interim runs as well.

My next long run will be the Hillingdon 20 and then of course the London Marathon.

My training between now and then will be almost interval training.

Training is going really well

With two months left to the big day just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me.

My training is going well and I ve well and truly perfected a half marathon just need to remember that I have double that to conquer.
I have entered my last long race before the London Marathon, this is the Hillingdon 20 (old Finchley 20) this is a relatively cheeky twenty miler and will give me an idea how well I will do in London.

Physically my knees are really feeling the strain but as a great man once told me no pain no gain.
The medical centre has a new of set of knees on order!

For all those who say I’ll get a runners high or want to do more, rest assured that will not happen running is literally the most boring thing on earth.

Thanks again

Why am I doing this to myself!

Having sought inspiration from one of the competitors from the 2024 marathon,  I along with 850,000 people entered the ballot for the TCS 2025 marathon and was lucky (or not) to ‘win’ a place (first time might I add)

I’m a current serving member of the Royal Air Force and have done so for 22 + years.

Mental Health has played a part in my life having been diagnosed with low self esteem and anxiety as a result of childhood trauma.
I have never let my mental health stop me from achieving everything I want to and now I use my experiences to help others.

Having completed too many to mention operational tours,  I have seen the differences  that charities like Combat Stress offer to personnel and veterans who are going through difficulties.

It’s now my time to give something to Combat Stress so they can continue to help my extended service family who are in need of help.

Support my challenge

This year I will be taking on the London Marathon to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
