London Marathon 2025 is happening 🙈🩵
On Sunday 27th April 2025 I will be running the London Marathon (yes you read that right) in honour of Lance Corporal Taylor Cole of the Royal Signals.
Those of you who don't know, I met Taylor and his twin sister, Tia when they were 3 years old and they were like family.
Taylor joined the army at 16 years old and flew through the ranks before becoming a Lance Corporal with the 3rd Division Signals Regiment.
Sadly, on Thursday 26th January 2023, Taylor passed away by suicide at just 20 years old.
Its heartbreaking to think that once little boy with his cheeky grin couldn't see any other way out.
Taylor's twin sister, Tia has set up a non-profit organisation in his legacy called The Taylor Cole Foundation which I will represent whilst raising money for Combat Stress.
I have never been a runner until I completed the couch to 5k in early 2020. Since then running has taken a back seat. This year I have made it my aim to get back into my trainers on a regular basis for my own mental health and was inspired seeing the London marathoners in April so much that I thought I would apply 🙈 I was lucky enough to be given a charity place in Taylor's memory. I'm completely bloody petrified but I will put in the work to complete the 26.2 miles and raise as much as I can for an important cause 🩵
The mission of The Taylor Cole Foundations is to break the stigma surrounding mental health by showing support and raising money for mental health charities including military charities.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For almost a century they have helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. They are on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So when a veteran is having a tough time, they are there to help tackle the past and to help them take on the future.
