Why I'm putting my hypermobile body through 26.2 miles of pain
Everyone thinks marathon training is just about getting a medal and bragging rights, but when you're juggling work, university, parenting, and an AuDHD brain, the miles have to mean something a lot deeper.
Some days, executive dysfunction wins, or my joints feel like loose glass, and getting out the front door feels like scaling a mountain. But then I remember why I started.
My husband is an army veteran living with PTSD. I’ve watched him fight invisible wars inside his own head. Wars that don't stop when the uniform comes off. Organisations like Combat Stress are the absolute lifeline that helps military families survive the aftermath of service.
So when my legs want to quit, I think about what a REAL battle looks like. I’m running the Manchester Marathon so veterans never have to carry their trauma alone.

Let’s get this done together. 💙
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and servicewomen deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
Thank you so much for your support.
