317 Miles. 30 Hours. One Mission. Remembering Adam Hosford.
Catterick Garrison > Warminster 🚴
Adam is my brother. Adam served in the British Army with the Royal Dragoon Guards, completing two tours of Afghanistan and receiving a Certificate of Commendation from NATO. He was proud of his service but to those who knew him, that was only one part of who he was.
Adam was unforgettable. Loud, funny, chaotic, full of energy he couldn’t switch off even if he tried. ADHD fuelled madness, constant trouble, always pushing limits but always making people laugh. Even on your worst day, Adam would somehow get a reaction out of you. If you knew him, you don’t just remember him - I know you can probably still hear him, and you’re smiling at the memories he left you with.
Mental health is not simple. PTSD, depression, trauma, anxiety… they don’t always show on the outside. Too many people suffer in silence behind a smile, behind humour, behind “I’m fine” and when they do seek help, they don’t always get what they need – something Adam experienced on more than one occasion. Losing Adam has left a silence that nothing fills. And the hardest part isn’t just the loss; it’s the questions that never go away. The what ifs. The guilt. The wondering if there was something more, I could have done as his sister and the never knowings.
That’s why this fundraiser matters.
Combat Stress supports veterans who are struggling with their mental health when they need it most. They provide specialist treatment, long-term care, and hope to people who feel like they have none left. They don’t just talk about recovery, they actually make it possible. PTSD is not something anyone should have to carry alone, and with the right help, recovery is real.
On the 11th July, we will be cycling 317 miles from Catterick Garrison to Warminster with the aim of completing the challenge within 30 hours, all while raising as much money as possible for a cause that means a great deal to us. This challenge is something both myself and Carlos Peers are taking on together.
Carlos is a fellow Royal Dragoon Guards soldier who served alongside Adam and remains a close friend of his. Although he now serves in the Royal Artillery, his connection with Adam goes far beyond military service - he knew him as a friend, someone he trusted, respected, and shared unforgettable experiences with.
For both of us, this ride is deeply personal. We’re doing this side by side but what we’re doing barely scratches the surface… it doesn’t even tip the iceberg of what some people carry internally, often in silence. We’ll push ourselves together, not because it compares, but because it’s about doing something to raise as much as possible to help support veterans mental health.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it genuinely makes a difference. It helps save lives. It gives someone the chance Adam never got 🤍
