Training run 5

Well yet another cold and freezing January day here Just North of Preston Lancashire, and I am on my way to find the route that I will take for the 10mile run in March( which is looming up surprisingly quickly). This is going to take in part of the Preston Guild wheel route from Broughton to the final whistle cafe alongside the Lancaster canal in Cottam, then returning a slightly different route once I leave Cottam green. Well it would be of interest to those local to me who are following my progress .
I actually surprised myself, a lot and managed 14Km non stop running, however, the down side to this is that it has clearly showed me that my knees are not as good as I thought, and I am going to have to be very careful not to abuse these old knees, too much, before the big day or after for that matter, I am hoping to get many more miles out of these.

4th training session

Finally a day above freezing, and it was a pleasure to start to find my route, that I will be taking on this 10 mile run challenge.
I have decided to make use of a local route to us, the Preston Guild wheel. This route will keep me off most of the main roads and afford some lovely trails and views around Preston’s west and south sides. 8km 5 miles today, when do your legs get used to this !!!!

Training Day 3

6km 4 Miles hard work today, really didn’t have the motivation to go out today. A little bit of advice from my number 1 supporter Mrs Bond.
Once out in the fresh air and my mood lifted, I was able to get a good rhythm going and recorded so good times.
My mood remained on the up all day.

Training day 2

Well wellington boots would of been the order of the day if they were good to run in, but running shoes it was ( which are now in the airing cupboard drying out) 1C and wet , what have I got myself into again, well must not grumble as they say, it could be worse.
I managed to complete another 5.5Km today, so pleased with the progress in my fitness journey so far. Will keep the blog going.

First run in 2025

Well in -2C and the dark off I went wondering what I have let myself in for, I walked half a Km then an actually managed to run 5.6Km and did a half Km cool down.
Very pleased with myself, so far.

Support my March in March

This year I will be taking on March in March to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on March in March to help take vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support and together we march!
