On Saturday 29 March 2025, the Thomas Hardye School CCF undertook its main charity fundraising event of the year in the form of the 10 mile 'March in March' for Combat Stress.
30 cadets and 7 staff took part and so far, with Gift Aid donations, £7,753.19 has been raised. Lead fundraiser, Sgt Jessica Rose (Year 12) has raised nearly £800 alone said:
"I decided to take part in the March in March for Combat Stress this year as I believe that it is a wonderful charity, which aims to help veterans get the help that they need. I wanted to do something that would be meaningful for all the veterans of the services.
These veterans have done so much and given up so much for our country and I wanted to give something to them. Our contribution towards this amazing charity is going to be able to support so many people, whether it’s using the call line or doing a virtual art therapy session. This will be making a difference in someone’s life, whether they know it now or not."
CCF Contingent Commander, Maj Kevin Matthews, said:
"It was a great day, albeit a cold one. Our cadets are amazing people, and they have truly gone above and beyond on this one with their commitment towards their fundraising. I'm enormously proud of them all anyway, but this has proven that this is a generation that cares about other people and is willing to undergo difficulty and hardship for the benefit of others."
It is still possible to support the fundraising effort, go to https://events.combatstress.org.uk/so/342/t to donate.
