I've been volunteering with Combat Stress since January 2026, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. My motivation comes from a very personal place—I lost my uncle and my best friend after their battles with PTSD following their service. While my story is different, it deeply affected me and inspired me to do something to help others. I wanted to get involved in a cause that supports veterans and their families through those invisible struggles.
Meeting other volunteers, veterans, and people who have been supported by Combat Stress has been so inspiring. Hearing their stories and witnessing the impact the charity has made truly opens your eyes and makes you feel proud to be part of it.
Volunteering has given me a real sense of purpose and connection. It’s allowed me to turn my own experiences into something positive, build confidence, and meet some truly amazing people who share the same passion.
I’ve participated in two Race to Remember events, which were fantastic experiences. Most recently, I had the honour of representing Combat Stress at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester, where I helped collect a donation from an incredible soldier who completed a challenge climbing the equivalent of Ben Nevis, Pen y Fan, and Mount Everest. Seeing dedication like that really hits home and makes you realise how important this work is.
Volunteering with Combat Stress has been such a fulfilling experience, and it’s wonderful to feel truly valued as part of a community making a real difference.
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, I’d say go for it. Even a little time can have a big impact, and it’s a meaningful way to give back while also gaining so much personally.
I’m incredibly proud to support Combat Stress and the life-changing work they do for veterans and their families. It’s an honour to play even a small part in that mission.
