March in March - Mission Accomplished!

29 Mar 2026

I hope you have had a great weekend.

The Sallie Army most certainly did! Their Saturday night/Sunday morning's sleep was deprived of an hour as the clocks sprang forward. Undeterred by this vital component in their preparations, The Sallie Army rose early, dutifully applying the seven P's (Previous Preparation and Planning, Prevents Pretty Poor Performance) that Army Veterans know have been instilled in us from day one, and set off on their 18.8 mile TAB just before 0500 hrs. They motored through their route with up to 25 kilos or 55 lbs on their backs.

The super fit team had an exceptionally fast start and at one point, despite a good break for their self prepared hearty breakfast, had to slow right down as the finish line, a pub in Harpole called 'Live and Let Live' was not due to open until midday! They still arrived a good quarter of an hour before opening time looking remarkably fresh. A few devout supporters awaited them in the very chilly wind including the wife of one of the team members, Sallie Shortland, affectionately addressed by the three participants as "The Major"

A much deserved beer or three was to be had celebrating their deliberately set tough and challenging March in March TAB and throughout the rest of the day, as the pub was filling, people continued generously donating to Combat Stress. As matters stand £4,384 has been collected, an awesome amount of money! Donations are still coming in!

Mission accomplished!
