Support my March in March

This year I will be taking on March in March by running 100km (63 miles) during the month of March to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans’.

Combat Stress are the UK's leading charity for veteran's mental health. For almost a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on March in March to help take vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.

Run #14 - 7.5km - thank you & goodnight

Friday 2nd Apr
Final run - back home from the office through the City, Spitalfields, Brick Lane, Columbia Road, London Fields and Hackney Central.

Run #13 - 8.2km (the real cost of conflict)

Friday 2nd Apr
South to Bethnal Green and back. Stumbled across the Cyprus Street memorial. 26 men from one street went to WW1 and never came back. And who knows the battles those who came back continued to fight. An appropriate reminder of what #MarchInMarch is about.

Run #12 - 7.5km

Friday 2nd Apr
The classic eastwards loop. Through Chatsworth Road, along the River Lea, the outside path around Hackney Marshes (photo, lovely weathered plate steel), back up through Millfields and Clapton Pond

Run #11 - 7.6km

Monday 22nd Mar
Ah, nighttime in Instanbul... Nah! Kingsland Road, innit. Millfields, Upper Clapton, Stokey Common, Rectory Road, Kingsland Road, Hackney Downs

Run #10 - 10.65km (craft coffee & beer special)

Saturday 20th Mar
Hackney Central, Dalston, De Beauvoir Town, Haggerston, Columbia Road (photo), Ozone Coffee, The Experiment

Run #9 - 9.3km

Thursday 18th Mar
Chatsworth Road, Mabley Green, Hackney Wick, around the Olympic Stadium (pictured), Copper Box, up the River Lea and back through Chatsworth Road

Run #8 - 8.7km

Tuesday 16th Mar
Running through the drizzle (forecast was for worse, so ... result!) - Upper Clapton, Springfield Park (nice refurb of the lodge by the Council, photo), Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow Marshes, Hackney Marshes, Chatsworth Road

Run #7 - 8.5km

Saturday 13th Mar
Hackney Downs, Shadwell Green, London Fields, Haggerston (hello Mr Shark, pictured), Cambridge Heath, Bethnal Green. Bus back. Curse you, dodgy knee.

Run #6 - 8.9km

Thursday 11th Mar
Down through Victoria Park, round Bethnal Green (photo of V&A Museum of Childhood, not pictured all the ‘dark kitchens’ under the railway arches), back up across Hackney Road and London Fields.

Run #5 - 7.9km (International Women’s Day Special)

Monday 8th Mar
Rectory Road, Kingsland Road, Dalston Junction, London Fields, Hackney Central (where someone had been out early for IWD getting the message out, pictured)

Run #4 - 8.8km

Sunday 7th Mar
Down around Victoria Park, across the always glamorous A12 (pictured, heading towards the Blackwall Tunnel), Hackney Wick, Olympic Park (via the Pastore Pasta market stall) and back up through Homerton.

Run #3 - 7.2km

Thursday 4th Mar
That rarest of things these days - a run home through the City. Picture is the deserted street outside the main entrance to the Lloyds market at 1745 on a Thursday. Really.

Run #2 - 8.8km

Wednesday 3rd Mar
Out of the house and off to Kyoto and back. Sadly not. A circuit of a misty Victoria Park.

Run #1 - 8.5km

Monday 1st Mar
Down through Mabley Green, loop around Here East, outside of Hackney Marshes, Millfields, Clapton Pond (photo), home.

Sunrise over Hackney Marshes

Saturday 27th Feb
Most training is boring. Not these couple of minutes though. Lovely.

It’s snowing

Sunday 7th Feb
Well, sort of. Seeing it as an opportunity to get some KMs under the belt in less than ideal conditions.

Why I'm marching in March

Sunday 17th Jan
Combat Stress do vital working supporting men and women who have put themselves in harms away on behalf of us all. I have seen what an important difference their work can make. So I'm lacing up the trainers and seeing if I can raise a bit of cash for them. The 100km target I'm sure is meagre to many of you but it sounds like a long way to me. I'd appreciate your support for my jogging and much more importantly the work of Combat Stress.
