Support my Race to Remember
This year I'm taking on Race to Remember to raise vital funds for Combat Stress, the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health.
For over a century, Combat Stress has helped former servicemen and women overcome trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Last year, I signed up for this race without properly preparing. Despite the lack of training, I managed to cover 65 km (40.4 miles) out of the full 76 km (47.2 miles) course. It was one of the toughest challenges I've ever faced, and it taught me a lot.
This year, I'm approaching it completely differently. I've built a structured training plan, improved my nutrition, upgraded my running gear, and learned from every mistake I made last time. My goal isn't just to finish the race—it's to do it the right way while raising money for a cause that truly matters.
As a truck driver, I'm constantly on the road, so fitting training around long working days isn't easy. Early mornings, breaks between deliveries, and weekends have become opportunities to prepare. This challenge is on another level, but I'm determined to see it through while helping those who have served our country.
This year, I also have an incredible team behind me. Cam James is helping me with strength and conditioning, Julie Haslam is guiding my nutrition, and Rachael Dawes is supporting my recovery with sports massage. Along with many others offering their time, knowledge and encouragement, they're all playing a huge part in helping me give this challenge my best shot. I couldn't ask for a better team.
If you're able to support the fundraiser, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps Combat Stress provide vital mental health treatment to veterans who need it most.
If you can't donate, please consider sharing or reposting this fundraiser. It could help this reach someone who is able to support the cause.
If you've got any tips or advice for ultramarathon training, I'd love to hear them.
Thank you to everyone supporting me on this journey. Every donation, share, message and word of encouragement means more than you know. Together, we can help make a difference for those who have served.
