In Memory of Richard — A Short Service, a Lasting Impact
Richard O’Regan served from 1998 to 2003 as a proud member of the Territorial Army (TA), including a tour of duty in Iraq. His sense of duty, courage, and loyalty extended far beyond his years in uniform. Volunteering to serve overseas, Richard answered the call to stand shoulder to shoulder with his comrades — to give of himself in the name of something greater.
Like many who experience the realities of war, Richard returned home carrying invisible wounds. He battled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) — a fight that demanded extraordinary strength. Tragically, during a period of PTSD psychosis, Richard lost his life.
This fundraiser is created in Richard’s memory: to honour his service, his kindness, and the laughter he brought to those around him. It’s also a call to raise awareness of the mental health struggles faced by veterans and reservists, and to support efforts that provide understanding, care, and hope to those still suffering.
By contributing, you’re helping to keep Richard’s spirit alive — turning his story into a source of healing and change for others.
Please join this cause through November by doing something that benefits your health each day in memory of Rich. This could be cutting out blue light after 8pm, taking a daily sauna, going for a daily sea swim or cutting our cakes. You could also do a mix of the above or join me in completing 15km’s swimming through November.
Thank you for helping us remember Richard, and for standing with those who continue to fight unseen battles.Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
Thank you so much for your support.

It was lovely to meet you at Thurlestone Hotel. Keep up the good work!!

Missing Richard on a daily basis and will be thinking back to our gym, swim and sauna sessions as I swim. Every time I've swum outside in the last couple of months, a little white feather has landed on the water so watch out for the feathers if you decide to join me. Rich will be swimming with us.
