The proud Rushdenites
Two very tired veterans who are nearing the end of a 22-mile walk. So pleased to have completed this distance, now knowing we are in good shape for the Challenge on the Normandy Beaches. The 22-mile training session
Pleased to report that we completed 22-mile walk on the 23rd of May 2024. This was done on the 42nd anniversary of the second day in Combat at San Carlos in the Falklands.Phone ran out of power .But not me
A excellent training session. Completed around 12 miles with only one break of a couple of minutes to take a drink. Completed the disance in just over three and a half hours and averaged 18.37 per mile. Now we'll on the way to being fit enough for the 22-mile walkTraining walk on a hot day.
Nearly 18 miles completed today. So training is going in the right direction for the 22 mile walk in NormandyThe three events 26th of April 2024

Just completed just over 9 miles taking my total to 171 miles. Not bad going in about 9 months.Medical, All systems go
I am happy to report that l have passed a medical and a ECG with flying colours. This is because of the refusal of my Gp to sign the medical declaration that is required. I attempted to get this signed 3 times, so being a veteran and attending a such a worthy cause was totally ignored. So happy l am in good shape, but extremely frustrated at a inept doctorsAll right on the Isle of Wight
Great walk out yesterday. Covered just over 10miles in unfamiliar terrain. Took in some hills and managed to walk on a beach for a while. Met some lovely people along the way ,and found a ladies phone with bank cards in. l am gald to say l managed to get in touch with her and returned it.11.15 mile training so still on track for the 22-mile in June
Training in March
Another eleven and a quarter miles done today. So nice walking around some local lakesTraining in March
Great session done last Wednesday on completing around 14 miles. We even found a place to have some refreshments along the way.Donation
Today, my wonderful mother in law, donated £250 to my Combat Stress page. So generous. I will be forever thankful.Training resumed
Walk training back on trackTraining resumed
After a pause from training , l can happily report that soon l will be back on schedule. Went out today and completed 5.5 miles in about 2 hours. A bit slow going, but l'm sure it will improve.2024 beckons
Remembrance
Having temporarily suspended our fundraising out of respect for Remembrance Poppy season, and also my wife has taken on being the Poppy coordinator, so we have been extremely busy . We are doing amazing in our fundraising, and have now past our target to take part in the 22 mile walk next June. But we do not want to stop, as all funds raised for Combat Stress are so worth it.Fund raising
My wonderful sister made a incredible donation today of £600. Raised by running a few bottle Tombola events. Helped by friends and family. So l am blessed to have this support. Along the journey of the D DAY 44 Challenge, of training, radio Interviews, and meeting some fantastic people, it is already a privilege for me to be involved. Thank you everyone for your help and the donationsTraining session
Today completed around 11.5 miles in our training for the 22 miles walk on the anniversary of the D DAY landings next year. This takes our total walked miles to around 70 miles.Fund raising Just Giving
I am extremely grateful for all the donations made so far. We are making steady progress to achieve the goal £1,250 each, needed by March 2024 to compete in the walk of 22 miles in France in June 2024.The training starts
So my good friend, who has now assumed the role of a PTI ( Physical Training Instructor),has now,set 22 days of training from July to December . Watch this space to keep up to date on our progressSupport my D-Day Challenge
In honour of our forefathers as well as current servicemen who have bravely fought to protect our way of life, I will be taking on the D-Day Challenge to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
The D-Day 44 Challenge commemorates the 1944 Allied invasion of occupied France. I will be heading to Normandy, to race across its picturesque beaches, finishing at the historic Pegasus Bridge on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, 6 June 2024.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking on D-Day Challenge to help take vital strides towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
Thank you so much for your support.
