My Story

⚓ 27 Years in the Royal Navy – Supporting Veterans’ Mental Health

After 27 years serving in the Royal Navy, on 5 Type 42 destroyers, 1 Type 23 frigate, and 1 aircraft carrier, I’ve seen the highs, the challenges, and the toll that service can take on mental health.

Over the years, I’ve personally struggled and sadly lost friends to mental health issues. These experiences have shown me just how vital support is for our armed forces – both during service and afterwards. 💙

I’m now dedicated to helping others access the support they need and ensuring no veteran has to face these battles alone. Mental health matters, and together we can make a difference.

Walking to Gokyo Ri, Nepal – Supporting Veterans’ Mental Health

On the of my final day of service I am announcing that this year I will be taking on an incredible challenge – trekking to Gokyo Ri in Nepal, a breathtaking peak in the Everest region that stands at 5,357m. The journey will be tough, with steep climbs, high altitude, and many long days on the trail, but it’s nothing compared to the struggles faced daily by many of our UK Armed Forces veterans.

I’m raising money for Combat Stress, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting veterans’ mental health. Too many men and women who served our country come home with invisible wounds – anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other challenges that can make civilian life incredibly difficult. Combat Stress works tirelessly to provide counselling, support networks, and practical help for veterans and their families, ensuring they never have to fight their battles alone.

By donating, you will be helping provide life-changing support for those who have already given so much. Every pound raised will go directly towards helping veterans access the help they need to rebuild their lives.

How you can help:

Donate whatever you can – every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.

Share this page with friends, family, and colleagues to spread the word.

Together, we can honour the courage of our veterans and help them find hope, healing, and brighter futures.

Thank you for your support – it means the world to me and to those we are helping.
