Gower Peninsula Challenge 2025

Gower Peninsular Challenge - 10km/6.21mile walk - Blasted target walking 11.49 Miles- but need your help with donations for Combat Stress.

Chloe Mackay, CEO of Combat Stress, said: "PTSD does not go away on its own, it requires specialist treatment and support from those with knowledge and understanding of what veterans have experienced."

On average 73% of veterans who undertake Combat Stress treatment recover. This is an incredible impact and significantly above the recovery rate for PTSD of other mental health services.

Combat Stress provide clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, focusing on those with complex mental health issues resulting from their experiences during military service. When some military personnel leave service, their experiences can’t easily be left behind. Without treatment, psychological trauma can eventually tear lives apart.

Combat Stress believe military trauma shouldn’t destroy the lives of veterans and their families. For over a century, they’ve helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Due NHS Appointment completed solo walk around Hawley Lake and Gibraltar Barracks - Blackwater.

Gower Peninsular Challenge - 10km/6.21mile walk - Trial walk

Due NHS procedure, now completing my Gower Peninsular Walk 10km/6.21miles remotely - tested idea of a treadmill at Nuffield Gym Southwood but bored after 2 miles watching TV BBC News mute with subtitles. So on Monday 16th July tested idea of a circuit around Hawley Lake, the home of 3 RSME Regt, Gibraltar Barracks, Blackwater, Camberley. Got carried away - 8.77 miles/14.11 km driven on by a 0% Guiness at the Crown & Cushion enroute.

So tomorrow Saturday 19th July will return to Hawley Lake - so watch this space and have your donations ready.

Gower Peninsula Challenge 2025-10km walk - 19-20 July 2025 - due NHS procedure in absentia.

Due impending NHS procedure will be swapping the stunning Gower Peninsula (the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and famous for its golden beaches, limestone cliffs, wild moors, ridges, and woodlands) for the Treadmill at Nuffield's Southwood gym.

Please translate any sympathy to donations to Combat Stress, who provide clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, focusing on those with complex mental health issues resulting from their experiences during military service. When some military personnel leave service, their experiences can’t easily be left behind. Without treatment, psychological trauma can eventually tear lives apart.

Over the last two years have raised £2,338 by walking hundreds of miles. Please help me pass the £2,500 mile-stone. Will be proudly wearing my "100 miles-in-May" (165 miles) shirt when I meet with the surgical team at NHS Royal Surrey on the 18th and my "March-in-March" (195 miles) at the gym - they say it pays to advertise. Dont prove them wrong.

Support my challenge

This year I will be taking on the Gower Peninsula Challenge to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
