Heavy Carry

On February 9th 2025, the mortarmen of the mortar platoon, will be doing a half marathon. 

But you're all super fit Adonis-like characters, and anyone can do a half marathon I hear you cry...well yes thats right, its too easy! So in true mortars style, we will be doing a 'heavy carry'- which involves the mortar being broken down across the 3 members of the detachment (crew), and carried with our other equipment over the ground.

 All mortarmen go through this rite of passage during the qualification course. Carrying 55kg, this would normally be done over 5 miles, but instead we will be doing the best part of 3 times this by doing the half marathon distance. 


Two dets (6 people) will be taking part in the Farnborough Half Marathon.
