Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
The Fan Dance is a gruelling 24 km (15-mile) load-bearing march and endurance challenge. Taking place over Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, it is historically the world's oldest Special Forces test used to gauge the physical and mental aptitude.
Originally known as Exercise High Walk, the route demands that candidates and participants climb the west slope of Pen y Fan, descend down the notoriously steep "Jacob's Ladder," and proceed along an old Roman road before turning around to do the entire route in reverse. In total, it involves around 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) of vertical ascent.
We're taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
