London Marathon 2025

TCS London Marathon 2025 - Still buzzing.

Completed in a time of 4:12.32 with only 6 weeks notice and recovering from a herniated disc.

It was amazing, words can not describe how incredible the atmosphere was and the noise of the crowds.

Even from the start it all went well from getting there in very good time, the TCS warm up tent which had coffee, croissants, Lucazade, a stretching/rolling area, and loos without queues!

Because I was there in plenty of time I had lots of time to fuel and the start was so smooth and so well organised!

I started well, and I was really cruising. My running clubs water station at mile 9 was brilliant, I got drenched, it’s tradition for club members to get squirted. It was great to see so many faces there.

I was running thinking about how well it was going and went through half way in around 2hours.

The crowds just kept on going, the only part where there was not crowds was through one tunnel.

I Loved having my name on my shirt. The amount of people shouting my name was unreal. Although by the time you registered someone shouting your name you had passed and had no idea who it was. (Apparently the trick is to shout their full name)

Canary Wharf was were it started to bite, mile 16/17. I think it was narrow roads and the heat bouncing from buildings. The narrow roads meant it was hard to keep a consistent pace and there was a small incline to exit Canary Wharf and people were walking making progress harder and my pace started to drop.

From there I settled into a slower place and just kept on going and didn’t want to walk.

Embankment was out of this world with the support on both sides and at the end you see Big Ben and turn towards Buckingham palace and you see the signs saying 384 yards to go… then 200m to go and your on The Mall to finish.

Even after the event there was such a buzz in the city that I have never seen or felt.

I loved seeing Cutty Sark, Greenwich, Tower Bridge, I missed the Tower of London but saw the other big sights.

Little stiff and sore still. But nothing I don’t expect.

Thank you to everyone who donated and offered words of support.

Expect the unexpected

Well this was pretty unexpected... herniated disc at the start of the year meaning very little running... 5 weeks ago I was asked if I would like a place in the 2025 TCS London Marathon.
After years of trying via the ballot and not being successful I was not going to turn this opportunity down. I initially was not going to fund raise but a few people have asked me if I am... so here we go.
So next weekend I will be running in aid of Combat Stress, any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Tata Consultancy Services for the place.

Support my challenge

This year I will be taking on the London Marathon to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
