Ironman Wales
Combat Stress is a charity exceptionally close to my heart and one that has provided a close family member with life saving treatment.
The charity has been operating for over 100 years and provides Veterans with crucial mental health support and treatment.
Two of my close family members are Royal Marines Veterans - both of whom served out in Afghanistan.
The eldest was blown up whilst serving out there and as a result suffers both the physical and mental injuries that such an experience carries.
Combat Stress has helped him on numerous occasions but most recently within the last couple of months.
I am incredibly passionate about raising money for the charity and this time round I will be raising money by completing Ironman Wales. This is the 4th hardest Ironman Triathlon in the world and involves:
- 2.4 mile swim in the sea
- 112 mile bike ride over the mountains of South Wales
- A full marathon
All completed back to back, in a single day.
Not only have I been training on average 12-16 hours per week but I have also completed:
1. The Manchester Marathon
2. The Battersea Half Marathon
3. Ironman 70.3 Swansea
4. The London Half Marathon
