Second Camino Complete

So… thanks to the vagaries of life (and issues with flights) my fellow pilgrims and I ended up having to change our plans slightly.

We did our pilgrimage from Porto in Portugal to the Shrine of St James in Spain over the last two weeks and in a reduced timeframe.

This meant we had less time to get the miles in and so we walked extended days… sometimes covering twenty miles a day over some pretty challenging terrain and in very hot weather.

We also had to sacrifice spending additional time at some of the locations we wanted to visit in order to clock up the distances in the time available.

Overall we covered around 250km and arrived in Santiago to receive our Compostelas and visit the Cathedral.

Despite the added challenge (and very sore feet) it was an amazing experience all round.

We undertook this pilgrimage to raise money for the charity Combat Stress, which provides supports to UK veterans with PTSD.

So far we have raised a little under £800, which is a fantastic result, and we are grateful to everyone who has donated.

If anyone else would like to support us then please feel free to. Every pound makes a real difference.

Camino for Combat Stress

We are a small group of veterans undertaking a 160 mile pilgrimage from the city of Porto in Portugal to the Cathedral of St James in Santiago, Spain.

We have previously raised money for Combat Stress by doing a shorter pilgrimage from Ferrol in Spain to the same location.

Each of us has been affected directly or indirectly by PTSD related through military service and are keen to help Combat Stress in its enduring mission to support veterans in crisis.

Any donations would be gratefully received! Every penny helps those who’ve given so much!

I am raising vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
