I am raising vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

A group of eight friends in their 50's & 60's will be cycling from Calais to Ghent and back again with the intention of raising a few pounds for Combat Stress. They are being sponsored by the Seafire Taproom in Lee on Solent, courtesy of the owners Chris Clark and Ken Norish.

Seven of the eight are military veterans, 3 Royal Navy, 3 Army, 1 Royal Marine, and they will have a support vehicle driven by another RN veteran. They have a combined service of 120 years. Between them they have seen active service in the Falklands Conflict, Northern Ireland, the Middle East and the Balkans.

They will be stopping overnight at Ypres both ways in order to pay their respects to fallen comrades at the Menin Gate Memorial and also visit a Military Cemetery or two.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking on vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
