Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2024

With it’s start line in the incredible city centre, you’ll run through the very heart of Edinburgh when you take on this amazing challenge! Greyfriars Bobby, The Mound, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyrood are just a few of the landmarks you will pass and maybe one of the reasons that this is the second largest marathon in the UK behind only London. Edinburgh has also been voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runners World, so if this is your first marathon or you’re looking for a PB, this is the event for you!

With a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km and 5km option, there is an event for everyone!

Join us today.

Own Place

If you have your own place in the event, you can still join the team and receive the same support as our charity place runners! There’s no registration fee or fundraising target, just do the best you can and help make a difference to the lives of the veterans we support.

FAQs

How do I receive my event number?

add remove

All entrants with a UK address will have their event number posted out to them in May. It should arrive no later than the day before the event.

For overseas, later entrants and replacement runners there will be an Event Number Station available at Dynamic Earth on the Saturday of the event, and on the Sunday morning of the event at the Sunday start area

How will my running time be tracked?

add remove

Your timing chip is integrated into your race number.

My child has entered in the junior race, can I run with them?

add remove

The event organisers encourage parents to remain at the side of the course to minimise the number of adults on the course and to create the best environment possible for the kids running.

However, if you do want to run alongside your child then this is permitted, but it is asked that you take a position in the back starting pen so you do not obstruct any kids looking to run fast times. Adults taking part with their child do not need to enter the race themselves.

Is there a cut off time?

add remove

Yes, there are cut off times for all of the races.

The full marathon has a strict maximum cut off time of 6 hours and 30 minutes, and the half marathon has a cut off time of 3 hours and 15 minutes. These are put in place by a sweeper bus which will pick up any runners which it passes.

The cut off time for the 10k is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and for the 5k it is 45 minutes.

The junior race cut off times are as follows:

5k: 45 minutes

2k: 30 minutes

1.5k: 20 minutes

Kids kilo: 20 minutes

Will I receive a finisher's bag?

add remove

All participants who finish their run will recieve a medal and other finishers' items.
