A bit about me

Growing older has never meant slowing down for me. Now in my 60s, I believe staying active is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. You'll usually find me in the gym three or four times a week, alongside three weekly cycling sessions that keep both my body and mind in good shape. Before this chapter of my life, I proudly served for 24 years in the Royal Engineers, leaving the military in 2005 after achieving the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1). The values of discipline, resilience and determination that shaped my military career continue to guide me today. Away from training, I enjoy watching all kinds of sport, particularly motorsport, and have a lifelong passion for motorcycles and cars. Whenever I get the chance, there's nothing better than heading out on my motorcycle for a long ride and enjoying the open road with like minded friends..
Over the last few years, I've discovered a new challenge through gravel cycling events - inspired my my gym buddies and my trainer Louise Worboys Coaching. What started as something different has become a real passion, with successful rides of 80 km, 85 km and 92 km already completed, and an exciting 117 km event coming up in mid-July 2026. Every challenge is an opportunity to prove that age should never be a barrier to setting new goals. This year's riding is even more meaningful as I raise funds for Combat Stress in Sep 26, a charity that provides vital support to veterans facing mental health challenges. Having served myself, I know how important that support can be, and I'm proud to be doing my part to help raise awareness and funds for the outstanding work they do. I hope my journey encourages others to stay active, embrace new challenges and support those who have served.
I'm taking part in the Combat Stress CycleSeptember challenge!
This year I will be taking on CycleSeptember and cycling 500 miles to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
Thank you so much for your support.
