I'm taking part in the Combat Stress 100 Miles in May challenge

This year I will be taking on 100 Miles in May as part of Team TAB, to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

On a personal note, this is for Staff Sergeant Davie Penman, late of the 22nd S.A.S Regiment and 3 Para. I was his P.A when he worked for the United Nations World Food Programme. He was my friend and Brother.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.

My Updates

Hot Sunday effort.

Sunday 12th May
8.2 Miles. Proper smashed.

Day 9. The slopes of Southam to Prestbury and back.

Thursday 9th May
A great day to be out in the sunshine. A very leisurely stroll of 4.2 miles. Not too hectic on the old  Long Covid lungs.

Day 8. V.E Day

Thursday 9th May
Had a day for the King here. ( I needed a wee rest )
I represented  the Security community in Cheltenham for the ceremony at our Cenotaph.

Day 7. Cheltenham, Pittville and Sandford.

Tuesday 7th May
3.23 Miles in the sunshine!

Day 6. Lungs are feeling it.

Monday 6th May
Well, 3.8 miles today. My lugs are on the ropes a little bit do didn't want to push too hard.
Nearly half way through the challenge  though!

Day 5. Family assistance

Sunday 5th May
Nice 6.5 miler this morning with the wife and kids.
Feet up now. More tomorrow!

Day 4. Cutting around town.

Friday 3rd May
It would be remiss of me not to say that I ache a little bit today. With that in mind, I kept it light and local today.
6 ish miles in total.
Sodding rain too but hey ho.
Tomorrow is a day off.
For Sundays walk, I shall have some company!
Yay!

Day 3. The Battle of Endor...

Thursday 2nd May
13.1 miles in 3 sittings!
Get in there you fat Civvy tit :D
Beautiful surroundings on the outskirts of Cheltenham.
Loads of mud, 2 near misses with proper shit bog slippage but I survived! :P
tripled back on myself to avoid getting lost - because stranger things have happened. No rain either. I have also gained a rather tidy piece of walking stick too. I had to! Choppy Choppy!

Day 2. Walk with Mum. Bath Road.

Wednesday 1st May
Mum had a hip replacement recently, so this morning was a short tab. Tomorrow is a bit bigger. (And potentially more soggy!)

Day 1. No rain. Cannot complain!

Tuesday 30th Apr
Day 1. Sorted.
Tab from Cheltenham Boys College to Pilley and back by way of Montpillier.

Making ready....

Wednesday 24th Apr
I spent yesterday evening tabing across the Cotswold escarpment via Leckhampton hill as a prelude to the big push in May.  Today  I was cutting through the local park for good measure.
My lungs are smashed since Covid. I know this terrain like the back of my hand, but my fast tab style of the 1990's will need a little teasing back.  I'm sure I'll be fit for purpose in the coming days!
