What’s the best way to smash my fundraising target?
Spread the word!
To get the best possible turnout for your Brew and Bake, make sure you promote it far and wide. Create posts and leaflets to share in your local area and workplace - we’ve got templates available on our resources page to help you get started.
Make the most of social media by creating a Facebook event or sharing details on local community pages and company intranets. You could even reach out to your local newspaper or radio station to help spread the word. The more you share, the more people will hear about it, and the bigger your event will be!
On the day
However you choose to host your Brew and Bake, ensure donation collection is clear and accessible. Place collection tins or buckets in a prominent spot so guests can easily contribute to your fundraising efforts.
Make it personal
If you have a personal connection to Combat Stress then tell people why you support us. A personal story or reason will always resonate more. Or with the VE Day anniversary, do your guests have family connections to WWII and the military?
At the Brew and Bake, however you decide to do it, make sure that you're collecting donations in an obvious and prominent place.
Are there any legal guidelines I need to follow?
It's important that you're safe and legal whilst fundraising in aid of Combat Stress. Please follow our 'Keeping it Safe and Legal' guidance document.
Do I need a licence to host a Brew and Bake?
You will need to check for any licences you need. For example, selling alcohol requires a licence.
Where can I find Combat Stress decorations for my Brew and Bake?
We have free fundraising materials avaliable on our shop https://combatstress.shop/collections/fundraiser
What should I sell at my Brew and Bake?
What games and activities could I include?
'Guess the coffee flavour' or 'how many coffee beans are in the jar' are popular games.
Could you included a mini 'Bake off' style event as part of your day. Ask guests to enter a cake for a donation with a small prize for the winners of each category. Maybe even with a VE Day theme!
You could host a raffle or tombola - ask friends and local businesses to donate prizes.
Perhaps look at some traditional games like hopscotch or skipping for that wartime vibe!
