I'm taking part in the Combat Stress 100 Miles in May challenge
This year I will be taking on 100 Miles in May as part of Team TAB, to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.
I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.
Thank you so much for your support.

Day 16
Thursday 16th May Another 6 miles to bring me to the 120 miles since the 1st May. Worked on my feet last night and felt really good today after a good nights rest. Leeds United tonight MOT/ALAW 🤞 ShareDay 15
Thursday 16th May Smashed out another 6 miler in the lovely weather and got a couple of donations off members of the public whilst walking due to the combat stress t-shirt which helps. 💪 ShareDay 14
Tuesday 14th May Another day another tab of 8 miles. Started cool but soon warmed up and my blister is holding up. I’ve a few irons in the coals that could bring in big donations towards this cause so 🤞it happens, it could save many lives. Share100 miles completed 💪
Monday 13th May Cooler today to walk a 9 miler and achieve my first 100 miles, but as I’ve committed to walk 200 miles if sponsors take me up to £1000 I’m only halfway but feeling good and I’m gonna keep going despite my disabilities to reach the 200 mile I promised all you who donated. Feeling pretty good apart from the blister on my left foot right on the ball of the foot but I’ll patch myself up and morphine myself through another 100 miles as every penny counts and it really is lifesaving to the brave men and women who like me suffer with PTSD. Keep the donations coming please and thank you 💪 ShareHot hot hot
Sunday 12th May Today I was joined by Dave Chester a good friend and veteran on our 7 mile yomp in the beautiful weather. Gave us older than gods dog but one a soldier always a soldier and a 273 years old Dave (mr jingles) set the pace and his humour has reinvigorated me and it was lovely to chat about old times whilst clocking the miles. Thanks Dave and I’ve now almost hit halfway of the 200 miles I’ve committed myself to doing during the month of May 💪 ShareDay 10
Friday 10th May Another beautiful day to be out walking my 6 miles. Now 72 miles into the 200 I’m doing in the month. Feet are sore and my disabilities are starting to show but I think of why I’m doing this and that motivates me to continue. I don’t have it in my DNA to quit or fail anything. I’ve upped my morphine and sorted my feet and I’m gonna do this 💪 ShareHot today 🥵
Thursday 9th May Another 6 miles but struggled today in the heat. Fortunately had plenty of water onboard and stopped twice for refills. Think I’m going to switch to shorts as this weathers set to stay ShareProper got the bug 🐛
Sunday 5th May I don’t know what’s come over me, walked 6 miles this morning and was a bit bored and it looked nice out do just done another 5 miles so 11 miles total today 💪 ShareHere we go again
Sunday 5th May Lovely bright start to Sunday morning with the sun out early as bf hardly any traffic, smashed out another 6 miles and even had a bacon and egg bap from Greggs. Have poppy a day off today as she’s feeling the strain 🐶💪 Share£750 Target Achieved
Friday 3rd May I signed up to Combat Stess 100 miles in May to hopefully raise £250 by walking 100 miles over the month. We smashed that between us and I said I’d increase my distance by 25 miles each target we reached. At £500 I committed to walking 150 miles and now thanks to your kind donations we have together smashed the £750 target, so I will keep my word and walk 175 miles now over the month. But as most of you know me well enough to know I don’t quit EVER so despite my disabilities if we break the £1000 target I’ll walk 200 miles because this is so personal to me being a complex PTSD survivor and I know the more money we raise for this cause the more lives we save and families we help. So those who haven’t sponsored me please donate to help me achieve this, I’m prepared to oush my body to its limit and beyond but I need my friends to donate to achieve this. We got this guys and we are going to show our appreciation to the heroes who have kept us safe and defended our freedom of speech which has come at a cost to many who suffer daily from the horrors of war and all it brings. Thank you and I appreciate every penny that’s donated to Combat Stress. ShareAddicted
Friday 3rd May Couldn’t help myself after doing 6 miles this morning I’ve just been out and done another 3 miles so a total of 9 miles today, the last 3 miles in the great British springtime rain 💪🤣 ShareThe challenge begins
Wednesday 1st May So we are off, here’s where the serious business begins, smashed our 6 mile's first 3 in the sunshine the last 3 in the rain! Good British spring weather but it doesn’t matter what is thrown at me my focus is on raising money for our forces to get treatment for ptsd . I’ve so far raised £511 with lots of promises from friends of donations to come, lefts hope they keep their word and we push my total up to at least £750 but I’d love to raise £1000. Thank you to all have given for this worthy cause and to those who haven’t just think if we had no brave armed forces where our lives would be. Please donate, every penny helps ShareCombat Stress
Thursday 25th Apr Most of you know I am ex British Army of 9 years before joining the prison service for 24 years which I was sadly medically retired from in 2019 after 4 spinal surgeries where I ended up with a titanium spine, nerve damage and chronic pain, morphine dependent. During lockdown I succumbed to the affects of childhood trauma and military trauma of losing good friends in both the Gulf War and Bosnia and I attempted suicide. Fortunately I was unsuccessful and I was brought back from the cliff edge by making a call to mental health and being fast-tracked into therapy for complex PTSD. I never thought the nightmares of 31 years would be spelled but an amazing and patient therapist who made me see my worth. I now support serving soldiers and veterans with PTSD and try to save lives as these heroes deserve to find peace. For this reason I have entered this to raise money for therapist, equipment and and the resources needed to support these heroes. Please sponsor me as I clock up 100 miles in the month of May for this cause. All the money goes directly to this cause. Thank you and god bless ShareThank you to my Sponsors
