100 MILES IN MAY

100 Miles in May: Stepping Forward for PTSD Awareness

Every mile tells a story. This May, I’m taking on a personal challenge: walking and running 100 miles in May to raise awareness for PTSD. It’s not just about fitness or hitting a number on a tracker—it’s about shining a light on something that affects millions of people who often struggle in silence.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can impact anyone. Veterans, emergency responders, survivors of trauma, and everyday people who have experienced life-altering events may carry invisible scars long after the moment has passed. While we often hear about physical injuries, the wounds we can’t see are just as real and just as deserving of understanding and support.

That’s why this challenge matters.

Over the course of May, I’ll be aiming to cover 100 miles—a mix of walks, runs, and determined steps forward. Some days will be easy. Others will be tough. There will be rainy mornings, tired legs, and moments when the sofa feels far more appealing than another mile. But those moments are a reminder of why this challenge exists in the first place: perseverance.

For many people living with PTSD, each day can feel like its own marathon. Anxiety, flashbacks, sleep disturbances, and emotional exhaustion can make even simple routines incredibly difficult. Yet countless people continue to push forward, showing incredible resilience in the face of challenges most of us cannot see.

This month is about recognising that strength.

Every mile I complete is a small act of awareness. It’s an opportunity to start conversations, break stigma, and remind people that they are not alone. PTSD is real, recovery is possible, and support matters.

If you see me out getting my miles in, feel free to say hello or even join me for part of the journey. Awareness grows through community, conversation, and compassion.

And if this challenge inspires you to take a few extra steps this month—whether that’s going for a walk, checking in on a friend, or learning more about PTSD—then every mile will have been worth it.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply keep moving forward.

100 miles. 31 days. One important cause.

Let’s make every step count.
