Why I am taking on this challenge

For those that don’t know me, I spent 23 years in the Royal Marines, leaving in 2021 due to a medical discharge.

What even some of my friends don’t know is that in Dec 24 I lost my best friend to suicide, who was a veteran himself.

This sudden death brought my world crashing down and as a result I started to struggle with some of my own demons.

Thanks to my supportive wife, I reached out to Combat Stress for help.

This was a game changing moment, little did I know, within 6 months of losing Andy, my mum would pass away unexpectedly.

The work I had started with Combat Stress massively helped me deal with this new grief and trauma.

So, this is why I have decided to attempt the 100 miles in May challenge to support a charity that has support both myself and Kelly.

My aim is yomp 33.3 miles per day over 3 days (10-12 May) leaving from 42 Cdo in Plymouth and finishing at Cdo Logistic Regiment in North Devon.

Will my dodgy knee and ankle make it?

who knows, but I will push myself physically and mentally to raise money for such a great charity.

I'm taking on 100 Miles in May for Combat Stress

This year I'm taking on 100 Miles in May to raise vital funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, they've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

I’m taking vital steps towards ensuring veterans can get the support they need.

Thank you so much for your support.
